I’ve always found whipping up my own BBQ sauces immensely satisfying. And what’s the perfect way to top off these homemade goodies? Cool labels! These free printable BBQ sauce labels make them look as pretty as they taste. They’re also editable, so you can keep track of what’s what and even make wonderful gifts.

Some BBQ sauces can have very similar colors, but a very different taste. I tried using plain labels but my handwriting sucks and I just knew there was a better way to do this.
It’s so much easier to keep track of my sauces with these editable labels. Just type the name of the sauce and the ingredients in the editable fields and print away!
🏷️ How To Use These Editable BBQ Sauce Labels
You don’t need to be an expert to use these labels. It’s certainly easier than acquiring calligraphy skills!
✔️First things first, you’ll need to open the PDF file. I use the free Adobe Reader, and it works like a charm, but any PDF reader should do the trick.
✔️Once you’ve got the file open, you’ll see there are 8 labels on each sheet. They’re sized at a neat 3×2 inches – just right for most sauce bottles and jars.

✔️Now, here’s the cool part: see those fields that look a little light blue? They’re editable. You can click right into them and type in whatever you want. I left one filled in so you can have an example but you can delete the text and replace it with yours.

✔️The larger field is for the name of the sauce, then “Ingredients” in the next field, and finally the list of the actual ingredients. But feel free to get creative! If you’re gifting your sauces, you could change “Ingredients” to something like “From the kitchen of… [your name]” to make it extra personal.
✔️After you’ve got all your info typed in, just go ahead and hit print!
✔️Now, when it comes to cutting these bad boys out, you could use a trusty pair of scissors, but if you want nice, clean lines (like Ginny always insists on), a paper cutter and a ruler will be your best friends. It makes the job so much quicker and neater.
✔️Finally, once they’re all cut out, you can stick ’em right onto your BBQ sauce bottles or jars with a bit of glue.
✔️Or, if you’re feeling crafty, you could even punch a little hole in the corner and use them as tags tied with some string. However you use them, these labels will keep your homemade BBQ sauces looking pretty and organized.

If you’re gonna go to the trouble of making your own, you might as well have some killer recipes to try, right? Over the years, I’ve tinkered with a bunch of different flavors, and we have some real winners here on the site.

👉First up, you absolutely HAVE to try our homemade whiskey BBQ sauce. It’s got that classic smoky sweetness you expect in a good BBQ sauce, but with a nice little kick from the whiskey that just makes it stand out.
It’s fantastic on ribs, pulled pork, even grilled chicken. Trust me, a little bit of that whiskey magic goes a long way!
👉Then there’s the 5-ingredient honey sriracha sauce. Now, this one’s for when you want to add a bit of a sweet and spicy punch to your grilling. The honey mellows out the heat of the sriracha just perfectly. I love this on grilled shrimp or even as a glaze for chicken wings.
👉For something a bit different, especially when the weather starts to cool down, check out the smoked pumpkin Bourbon BBQ sauce. Yeah, you heard that right – smoked pumpkin! But the smokiness and the bourbon give it this incredible depth of flavor that’s just perfect for fall grilling. It’s surprisingly good on smoked turkey or even pork tenderloin. Don’t knock it ’til you try it!
👉Speaking of chicken, we also have a fantastic recipe for Teriyaki BBQ sauce (you might have seen it alongside our grilled half-chicken recipe). This one’s got that classic teriyaki sweetness with a hint of smoky BBQ goodness. It’s a fantastic marinade for chicken before it hits the grill and it’s also great for basting. This one is my son’s favorite!
👉And finally, the homemade cherry Bourbon BBQ sauce is just the thing to try when cherries are in season. The sweetness of the cherries combined with the warmth of the bourbon creates a really unique and delicious flavor. It’s particularly good with pork chops or even duck breast if you’re feeling adventurous.

Jason’s been firing up the grill for over 30 years after graduating from the US Coast Guard Academy. His love of finely-grilled steak and chicken led him to buy his first Weber grill to put on his apartment patio in 1992. Each military move led to a new grill (a mixture of gas and charcoal) until he fell in love with the Big Green Egg in 2008. Since then, he has added another 4 grills to the collection. Yes, he has a problem. Jason loves smoking in the ceramic BGE with exotic woods including olive wood from Egypt and hard to find varieties such as sassafras and orange wood. Jason takes the term “foodie” to a whole new level, jumping at the chance to take food tours and cooking classes during foreign travels. These have provided inspiration to incorporate new ideas into recipes when he gets back home. He has been featured in Fox News, Parade, Yahoo News, Kansas City Living and more. After retiring from the military and moving to southwest Florida, he has focused grilling and smoking locally sourced meats and fish (read: he likes to catch his own fish!)
