Heat up the grill to direct heat to 375 degrees and oil the grill grate well.
Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil and salt and pepper. (No marinade is used with a basic chicken breast so olive oil is used to help keep the chicken juicy and prevent it from sticking.)
Grill each side 5-7 minutes, depending upon how thick they are. Check internal temperature for 165 degrees.
Notes
Internal Temperature - According to the USDA, poultry should be cooked until it reaches 165 degrees.Searing - Keep the grill temperature between 375 and 400 degrees. Use direct heat and the outside of the chicken breasts will sear quickly, locking in the juices.Meal Prep - Costco Chicken Breasts are the best for meal prepping. They come in larger packages and it takes just a few additional minutes to grill the whole batch. Wrap them in Saran or Press-N-Seal and store in freezer bags to have ready throughout the week.Simple Seasoning - If you plan on making a large batch, stick with a simple salt and pepper mix for the seasoning. This gives you the most flexibility for reheating and using in other dishes.Prevent Sticking - Brush the chicken with olive oil to minimize sticking on the grill.Tenderizing - It is ideal to flatten the breast using a tenderizing mallet. This forces the meat to be a uniform thickness and it will grill evenly. Make sure to place the chicken between two pieces of Saran to minimize the mess. This is a great project for your kids! They will love to pound this flat!
