This Grilled Honey Sriracha Chicken is packed full of a fantastic sweet and spicy flavor. The rich, earthy red peppers and the sweetness of the honey pairs perfectly on the grill!
Sriracha Sauce – Sriracha is a sauce or paste made up of chili peppers, vinegar, sugar and salt that originated in Eastern Thailand. Traditional Thai Sriracha sauce will be hotter and tangier. Americans love to add mayonnaise to it and use it as a dipping sauce, too.
It has a little bit of a kick to it but it isn’t overpowering. It has a great flavor and a little bit of heat. Ok, we can play with this!
Honey – The sweetness of the honey really tames down the heat of the sauce. It pairs perfectly for an extremely flavorful dish.
Chicken – I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe, but you could easily use chicken thighs or even chicken wings. Jason thinks the sauce would be amazing on wings.
🔥 Grilling Instructions
Step One: Combine these ingredients in a Ziploc bag and add the chicken breasts. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for two to three hours.
Step Two: Prepare the grill by setting it up for direct heat at 350 degrees. I use the Big Green Egg, as I think the thick ceramic walls help to cook the chicken more evenly. It seems that our chicken breasts always come out very juicy using the Egg!
Step Three: Remove the breasts from the marinade and place them on the grill. Cook for seven minutes on each side for the internal temperature to reach 165 degrees.
Step Four: Remove the chicken from the grill and serve with fresh sriracha dipping sauce!
💡 Recipe Tips
For an even faster cook time, pound the chicken breasts flat. Place the chicken between two layers of saran and use the flat side of a meat mallet to flatten. Alternatively, use a rolling pin to hit the breast. It won’t take long to flatten (and it is a bit of fun!).
I do recommend you do this before you put it in the marinade.
Recommended Side Dishes
Grilled Carrots – The sweetness of the carrots pairs well with the spicy flavor of the sriracha. Best of all, these are grilled in just a few minutes!
Grilled Baby Potatoes – These grilled potatoes work extremely well with the chicken as well. The garlic butter coating is melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
Grilled Bourbon Baked Beans – For something a bit more adventurous, give these grilled baked beans a shot. The bourbon sweetens it up and it pairs perfectly with the flavors of the sriracha.
